Mother of Eden by Chris Beckett || Book Review

Mother of Eden

Always remember that women are just as good as men. Don't ever treat someone differently because the way they look or because of the color of their skin. Just because someone thinks they are important doesn't mean they're better than anyone else, and nor does having a lot of stuff. Don't treat people like they are just things and watch out for men who thinks the story is all about them.

This books tells a story of a young girl who bloom into a strong women, making the kingdom a better place. Long ago, the grounds were divided into two kingdom. Both were swore enemies and fought for one thing;  mother's love, Eden. When Starlight married Greenstone, who was the Headmen of his kingdom, she became the mother of the people. As a mother, she tried to do the rights to the wrongs, a deep mark that crave in the kingdom for history. She tried to bring fairness and equality to the people. To her, there's no big people or small people, no one should be destine with their future based on their looks, and no one has the right to take away the wills of the people. She believed that every one was equal, man or women, black or white, and rich or poor. Her determination and courage won peoples heart and surely the readers'.

Not everyone agreed with her unfortunately, especially the chiefs and the head of the Councils. They tried to turn against her and Greenstone. Chief Dixon, a powerful chief, husband to the daughter of the previous king, crave to be the Headman and take over the kingdom. He destroyed Starlight and Greenstone empire. Starlight fled but Greenstone wasn't that lucky. He was chained and killed. As the kingdom rule under Dixon and his wife Lucy, Starlight escape.

However, she never give up. To her, she was till the people's mother and what mother would abandon her children?

People say that Eden was never dead. She only transform and dwell in different bodies. The people believed that Eden walks on their grounds again and is going to bring the kingdoms back together. They believe Starlight has Eden's spirit.

This book was fascinating and so different. It delivered a strong message to the readers; women are just as good as men. The strength and courage of a young girl inspired me to make a change.

Tropical Parfait Recipe || Healthy Eats

Tropical Parfait Recipe || Healthy Eats

So today was rest day and I got up at 7 ! I don't know how and why but my mind just goes "wake up wake up" at 7 o'clock every day no matter how late I stayed up last night. I was bored of regular muesli and milk for breakfast so I decided to make a parfait. If any of you don't know what it is or haven't try, you really should give it a go ! It was soooooooo good.

I N G R E D I E NT

3/5 cup Greek yogurt
3 tablespoons muesli
1 Kiwi
1 banana
A sprinkle of raisins
Black sesame seeds (Optional)
Cashews (optional)
Chai seeds (optional)

I N S T R U C T I O N S
1. Measure out your Greek yogurt and chop up your fruits.
2. In a jar, place a spoonful of yogurt at the bottom.
3. Then layer it with muesli. On top of that, add some diced kiwi and bananas.
4. Continue to layer the ingredients till the jar is full.
5. Sprinkle some raisin, nuts or any toppings that you like.
6. Dig in to enjoy or bring it to go if you're running late for school or for work. Your friends will definitely be jealous of your beautiful and nutritional breakfast.

Adding nuts and seeds really helps increase your daily protein and fat intakes plus it provides an extra boost of energy for you to start your day. My favorite is cashews which goes perfectly with this recipe.
And can you believe it's only 330 calories ? Amazing !

Those Girls || Book Review

Those Girls by Chevy Stevens

This book is brutally unforgettable. It has all the elements you crave in a thriller book: evil, mysterious, horror, and desperation. What makes the book shine was the sister bond the author created.

Dani, Courtney and Jess Campbell grew up in a farm. Their mother died and they are left with their alcoholic father. One day, their father comes home drunk and starts to abuse them. Their father started to hit Courtney and was about to drown her in the toilet. Jess held a gun in her hand and has to make a choice between her father and her sister Courtney.

The buried the body and ran away as fast as they could. They drove and drove out of the farm, out of the town and out of their old life.

Then suddenly their car broke down and some boys came to offer help. The girls knew they were trouble but they had no choice, they were stuck. And trouble was what the boys were. They tricked the girls, hurt them, torture them, and raped them. This part was really scary but that fear is what drives you to not stop reading !

The girls finally got out. They escaped to another town where they found hope. A glimpse of hope to start all over. They worked two to three jobs, and never talked about the past. Weeks past and Jess had not had her period. She became suspicious and went for a pregnancy test. The bar was blue. She panic and her sisters did too. It was too late for abortion. Can they raise the child even though they can't even guarantee their own three meals? Will the child look like her bloody baster father? What happens if the child finds out about the father or worst, what happens if the father finds out about the child?

Finding Audrey || Book Review

Finding Audrey Book Review

Let me just put something out there :

1. I just finished my spring semester and I am so excited to travel for summer.

2. After getting back home at 8 pm from my long day of finals, I decided to read Finding Audrey which was sent to me by the publisher. (however, these are all my opinion, not sponsored.)

3. I finished the book in one sitting and when I looked up at the time, it was 1:00 am.

This book was sweet, funny, and very entertaining. It's about a girl named Audrey, who developed an anxiety disorder. She would wear black glasses, stay home every day and when someone speaks to her, she panics, and runs away. Yes I know all of us get nervous around people we don't know but hers became a serious matter, till a boy name Linus, her brother's friend came along and helped her. The challenges they faced and the risk they were willing to take in order for Audrey to jump over the bridge of being anxious around people was interesting and fun. The author did an amazing job in describing the characters as well as the atmosphere. This allows the readers to feel connected to the story as well as the character themselves- like they are a part of the story, a part of Audrey. The book isn't revolved around Aubrey only, it also touches on family matters, teen crisis and friendship which made it even more interesting. Did I mention that this book was funny? Let me rephrase: It was hilarious! I wouldn't know how to describe funny but if you read it, you will know.

This book will be on sale on June 2015.
